In his course, "The Science of Self Confidence", Brian Tracy asks, "What would you do differently if you were assured success in an undertaking?" What a good question to ask yourself! So many ideas and inventions never see the light of day because their creator allows fear, self doubt and the opinions of others to take over and the ultimately abandon their dream.
The Roman Poet, Ovid, once wrote, "To be loved, be lovable." It seems that any more folk wait around for something good to happen to them, yet remain the same person that they have always been. "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne, did not help because some people felt that if they only thought positive thoughts, then good things, without any work, would be attracted to them. It just doesn't work that way!
There comes a point in many peoples lives when all their worries and problems begin to compound and they find themselves swimming in troubles and wondering which way to turn. Bills begin to pile up, job security doesn’t seem so secure anymore, their businesses are failing, and their faith is shaken. It seems despite everything that they do, matters only get worse and hope seems to be a fading reality. They want to give up, throw their chips in and just let their world come tumbling down at their feet. It may be in their personal life or in their business. Either way, they stand on the edge of losing it all.

I just read the other day where a recession is imminent. I'm not looking to scare anyone but many of us have lived through a few recessions in our lives, and believe me, they are no fun. During the last recession, in 2001, back when the dot coms began to implode, things became a little unraveled. People who had fortunes invested in the digital economy, found themselves holding worthless stock. And then the scrambling began. Jobs, in mass were lost. So much had been tied up into the digital economy that when it finally came tumbling down, entire lifestyles, and lives, came with it.
Many of us were ill prepared for such an eventuality. Yes, I did say eventuality, because, although there are few things that we can depend on in life, well, unfortunately, a recession is one of them. Believe me, this won't be the last recession in your lifetime. There will be others.
But there are many folk that don't fret during a recession. Why? Well, because they have made themselves recession proof. Some have set aside a little money here and there. Some have safe investments to fall back on. But others know, that despite a recession, they still have much to fall back on. That is because they have taken the proper steps to make sure that while others may find themselves fretting over the changing economy, they have indeed recession proofed themselves. They have indeed unlocked their potential for success.
